Sarah M. Vendsel earned her Master’s Degree in Violin Performance from New
England Conservatory under the tutelage of James Buswell. She received her
Bachelor’s Degree in the same from Southern Methodist University as a
student of Jan Sloman, principle associate concertmaster of the Dallas
Symphony Orchestra. As a soloist, Ms. Vendsel has enjoyed guest appearances
with orchestras in her native state of Texas, including the Las Colinas
Symphony, Garland Symphony Orchestra, New Symphony of Arlington, Fort Worth
Civic Orchestra, and the Meadows Symphony Orchestra at SMU. As a recitalist
and chamber musician, she has given performances in Dallas, Boston, Oberlin,
Wheaton, London, U.K., and, most recently, Chattanooga, where she now
resides. Her talents have led to opportunities to participate in
masterclasses with artists such as Paul Katz, Jaime Laredo, Ida Kavafian,
Donald Weilerstein and Pamela Frank. In 2003, Ms. Vendsel was named winner
of the Music Teacher’s National Association Collegiate String Competition in
Salt Lake City, Utah.
Ms. Vendsel is a visiting professor of violin and chamber music at Covenant
College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. In addition, she maintains a private
studio at Cadek Conservatory at the University of Tennessee/Chattanooga and
holds a position with the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera. |
