Rebecca Seiver received a diploma from the Curtis Institute of Music as a student of Orlando Cole. She continued her studies at the Julliard School of Music with Leonard Rose. In 1982 she received an Artist's Diploma working with Laurence Lesser at the New England Consevatory of Music. As a student in Phildelphia she was a three time winner of the Phildelphia Orchestra youth competitions and won second prize at the Hudson Valley Philharmonic Competition in Poughkeepsie, New York. She has given solo recitals at Jordan Hall, Boston, the Phildelphia Museum of Art, the Violincello Society of New York - Kosciuszko Foundation, and at Town Hall, New York. In 1986 she became a member of the Thouvenel String Quartet, an internationally acclaimed ensemble. The group commissioned works by Babbitt, Krenek, and Elliott Carter (his fourth string quartet) and performed in San Francisco, Miami, Chicago, Beijing, Amsterdam and New York. |
